Bleaching
This dyeing technique works great for wet folding with the same color on both sides of the paper. After the paper is completely dry, paint with Bleach to the areas that a lighter color is desired. The bleach will wash out the colors, making a two tone affect, and the paper will have a somewhat unevenly coloration, adding to the effect.
Embossing
Embossing is done on a light table. Put the paper over A (brass or plastic) stencil and the light from the table will show the design through the paper. You then take a stencil tool (stylus with a blunt end) and trace the design on the paper. This produces a raised design on the paper.
Powdered Pearls
Iridescent powder that gives a shimmer affect to the project. This is powder and it is somewhat difficult to use. Works great in crackling (powder gets into the cracks and darkens them. For other work you can usa a fixident (ink) or slightly mist the model with water and dust the model. Use a sealer
when done.
Flocking
The flocking compound is found at most craft stores and is only composed by fuzzy fibers and color matched glue. This compound makes the paper looks like fuzzy. Apply the glue to the areas to be flocked and dust the flocking compound onto the glued areas. Pat down lightly and let dry. After drying lightly shake the model to remove extra flocking.
Webing
Spray Webing, This is sprayed onto the model in a sweeping motion. Pat down lightly and let dry
Stippling
Stippling is done by taking a rubber stamping pad with dye ink (Dries permanent) and applying it to the project with a very stiff brush by blotting it on the creases, the more you go over the project the darker it gets. This is done to darken the edges and borders. Start blotting lightly on the inside and then go over and over the outside edges to gradually darken the outside edges
Chalking
Soft Colored Chalk is applied by using a cotton swab. And rubbing on to the design, The soft chalk is good for blending and the harder chalk is good for detailed work. Use a spray sealer to protect the chalk work
Crepepapier
Instead of using normal tissue for the tissue-foil combination use crepepaper. "Crepepapier" is a textured heavy tissue paper sold in most gift stores Spray glue the crepepaper to the foil and use as normal tissue-foil paper. This combination will give you the wrinkled skin affect for elephants and rhinos.
Sealers
Matt Acrylic Spray Sealer - gives a dull finish
High Gloss Acrylic Sealer - gives a high gloss finish
